What GACP and CoA Mean When Choosing Cannabis in Thailand
23/10/2026Walk into any dispensary in Thailand and you’ll see strains labelled indica, sativa or hybrid. These labels are useful, but they don’t tell the whole story.
Where the terms come from
The labels began as botanical descriptions of how plants grow. Indica plants are short and bushy with broad leaves, and originally come from mountainous regions of Central and South Asia. Sativa plants grow tall with long, narrow leaves, and are traditionally associated with warmer regions, including Southeast Asia; Thailand’s own landrace strains are sativas. Hybrids are crosses between the two, and today most strains on any menu are hybrids of some kind.

Why the label isn’t everything
Decades of crossbreeding mean that plant shape is a weak guide to a strain’s character. Two things tell you more:
- Cannabinoid content. THC and CBD levels are measured by a laboratory and shown on the Certificate of Analysis. THC is usually shown as a percentage of the dried flower.
- Terpenes. These natural aroma compounds give each strain its smell and flavour: citrus, berry, earthy, herbal, sweet or gassy.

How to read a CannaBuri product page
Every flower product at CannaBuri lists three things:
- Type: indica, sativa or hybrid
- THC %: as tested by the lab for the current batch
- Flavour profile: for example Citrus, Berry, Herbal or Pastry
Ask staff to see the CoA for any batch.
